Locked Dishwasher Door

Okay on this diagram check part number 61 and make sure it s not bent down and catching the door instead of going into the latch assembly on the door sometimes these can get bent down a bit and don t line up to slide into the slot in the door if it is not bent you will need to replace the latch in the door part number 96 on this diagram you can order this part if needed at the following link.

That said check for any problems with the latch before continuing. To do that you flip the circuit breaker off to the dishwasher and open the door. The second is to activate the safety switch. The control lock function on a whirlpool dishwasher is a child safety feature.

Then remove 2 more screws coming in from the right and left side up at the control panel and the front panel and control panel will pull off to remove the latch. The latch serves two purposes. Open the dishwasher door and remove the torx screws securing the inner door panel to the outer door panel with a torx driver.
