Metal Roof Gable Overhang

Some slight overhang is recommended in conjunction with a drip edge flashing to prevent water from getting under the roofing and onto underlying wood.

Rake trim can be flat with no overhang or it can overhang the gable end like an eave. However for larger extensions you ll need to hire a professional to get up there and remove large portions of the roof before extending the overhang.
